Rural Road Numbering
Rural road numbers are created in order to assist emergency services and mailing services locate your rural property. The rural road number chosen for your property is based on the distance to your driveway from the start of the accessing road. Odd numbers are allocated to driveways on the left, and even numbers on the right.
There are certain requirements that must be met in order to obtain a rural road number. The property must contain one of the following:
- Farm House – Rural property with a dwelling
- Shearing Shed
- Machinery Shed
- Temporary House
- New House (with proof of building permit)
In other instances, the result of a subdivision or amalgamation of land may also require a road number to be created. This is typically dealt with at the time of the notification from Landgate from these property changes.
Customers can request a rural number through the Shire Office. The request must be made in writing or, by completing the Rural Road Number Application Form by clicking here. Please send completed paperwork or requests through to rates@cuballing.wa.gov.au
When an application is received, Landgate must approve the road number. Once the proposed road number has been approved, the Rural Road number sign is ordered through the Cuballing Shire Office. Once the plate has been received, Shire staff will install the plate in a visible location at the start of your driveway. The order for the rural road number plate and the installation is of no charge to the applicant.
In some instances, an applicant may require more than one rural road number plate as the driveway may not be easy to locate. This can be discussed further with the Rates officer or Works Manager at the Shire of Cuballing.
